New Araby update out now!

This update changes the following:
  • New Zealotry rule; all units counts as having 1 more rank than normal for determining steadfast. In the first round of combat, they also take break tests on 3D6. I felt this would be a better way of representing their high morale and willingness to die for their god, without giving making them too hard to shift. It increases their chance of standing their ground for a little while, while still keeping their hit-and-run tactics intact.
  • Onager replaced with Basilica Cannon. You asked for it! Rather than going with an archaic stone thrower, I included the famous Ottoman Cannon from the siege of Constantinople instead. For gameplay's sake though, they work like normal Great Cannons. Places Araby a little bit more in the present Warhammer age, along with their Janissaries.

  1. We need a new book release...

    1. I would like to, but unfortunately time is a bit short atm. Currently working full time + overtime, which limits the amount of time I have available to work on new material. Right now, the best I can do is playtesting and rules updates.

    2. Well it looks good so far. Keep up the good work. I know you're swamped with work, but as far as scheduling goes--do you try to release a new book every single time Warhammer does?

Also, I have seen this debated on many sites, but who do you feel is the most powerful Warhammer mage? Story-line plus game rules. Most people say it's Mazamundi of the Second Spawning Slann, do you agree with this?

  2. GW's schedule has nothing to do with mine; I just release something new when I'm finished with it.

Haven't given it that much though TBH. Mazdamundi would probably be a good bet, if Kroak doesn't count (being dead and all).

  3. In my opinion what makes a powerful mage within the warhammmer world is how many and how flexible it is to choose spells for that mage. The current choices are most likely Kroak, Mazdamundi, Morathi, Alarielle, Teclis, and Kairos. Kodak knows one powerful spell, Morathi and Alarielle can choose to generate spells from multiple lores, Mazda has the loremaster rule for nine different lores Teclis can take all the spells from high magic or one from the other eight but who I think is the best is Kairos as he knows 16 (technically 24) spells between his two heads. But over course the one true master of magic is Tzeentch himself, but since it would be difficult to have him on the playing field I don't think he counts.

  4. HI there, just one comment on all the books.
Do you have some kind of version control on them. It would be good to know I am using halflings v 8.2 when you have published an 8.3 version.
You might already have this but for those of us that love this work it would help us learn from the collective experience. By that I mean that updates are made to make things more balanced and more in keeping with the other standard books, so a more recent version would be best. I suggest X.Y with X corresponding with the warhammer version (so 8 right now) and then Y being the number within that, so I guess the current Norse would be 8.2

    1. I would have liked that, but the only book I really know the version number of is the DoW one. In other cases, you are better off looking at the date of the pdf itself and compare it to the latest upload date on the blog. I'll see if it won't be possible to include a version number in later updates though.

  5. If you don't know how many versions you have up till now, then the next one becomes version 1 I suggest, and we all keep track from that point.

    1. Well, I do know for sure that it's not the first version, so in this case I'd rather just go with a number that is somewhat close to the truth ;)

  6. Hi Mathias,

Great job! I noticed that you didn't have a points cost for genies. Would it be possible to release a quick update at some point to include that? Thanks.

    1. Hi, the cost for the Genies can be found in the Viziers' entry since they cannot be taken on their own ;)

  7. Thanks, I realized that soon after posting. Question - are genie points intended to come from hero slots, or from the slot of the character they were taken with?
