Warhammer: Albion proper 8th ed update out now!

Finally finished! This is a pretty hefty update, containing nothing less than 18 new pages. Gameplay-wise, the army might be a little weaker with slightly more expensive troops and the loss of Devastating Charge, but Albion should now be a lot better accustomed to 8th edition. And for those of you who prefer Scribd instead of Issuu, Albion is finally back on the website!

New features are:

- Extended history for Albion, including Dark Shadows and the history of the Gaels.
- A timeline of Albion.
- Completely revised geography section.
- New units: Hunters and Centaurs.
- New Special Characters: Dural Durak, Morrigan and Connor McFeud.
- Completely revised Magic Item section.
- Various rules changes to bring the army up to date.
- Full colour update (with some tinted images).

And as usual, let me know of any bugs you find. Hope you like it!

  1. Albion has centaurs while amazons have medusas? How is this this related to Greek mythology?

    1. There's actually quite a few Greek mythological creatures appearing in non-Greek Warhammer armies, like Gors (Satyrs), Cygors (Cyclops), Hydras, Griffons and so on. Centaurs appear quite often in Celtic contexts, and there are miniatures from Confrontation for them. The Dark Shadows campaign even mentions Centaurs on Albion ("half horse, half man").
Medusas were included in the Amazon list for two reasons:
      A) they are snakes (Serpent Priestess, Lore of the Serpent)
      B) they are female (like the rest of the army).

  2. What happened to the Kelpie, I really liked it and it was rare to find any fantasy game with one in it.

    1. Why are everyone so up in arms about the Kelpie, it's just a water horse :p

The reason I removed it was because it felt rather useless and unfitting in the army; the Gaels are good guys, Kelpies are evil, so they don't really mix all that well. Mostly it was because the Kelpie really didn't add anything in terms of gameplay; it's not a MB, and it cannot fly - it's just a slightly better horse in an army that is primarily infantry and chariot based. I mean, did anyone ever actually use it for their characters?

  3. I agree where's the kelpie other than that pretty good list good you added the fen beast back in the book where it belongs i agree the pixes in swarms is good and drugs able to use lore of truth is good don't like the garlic fury ld idea i don't really know why you did that also word raiders only ws3 really I've yet to have a good look at the list magic items please add the kelpie back in

    1. See above response regarding the Kelipie.

The Fen Beast have always been in the Albion list, what do you mean?

As for Gaelic Fury, it's meant to give you an incentive to go on the offensive and break the enemy early, just like the Celts themselves did. If your army is stuck in prolonged combat, the odds of them losing their morale increases. What is it that you do not like about it?

Woad Raiders were nerfed because they are not really supposed to be any kind of elites, they are just crazy from all the "funny berries" they've ingested. This also makes them less similar to witches elves.

  5. i was going to use a kelpie yes and i thought it would be a monstrous beast in the new book

yeah but werent you planning to drop it was what i meant

its the fact their ld is already very low and they could easily lose a couple combats and be screwed very quickly

i agree about the woads so i see why

all in all though kelpie withstanding the books great good work m8

    1. I thought about it yes, but that would be going against the mythos, since Kelpies really only are the same size as normal horses (unlike Pegasus and Sleipnirs that have wings/extra legs to give them the mass needed to "qualify" as MB). I am considering moving them to the Fimir list instead, since they are evil swamp dwellers as well.

I never intended to drop Fenbeasts, they are the only unit apart from Truthsayers that are actually part of the canon fluff, so they are pretty mandatory in an Albion list.

I'll see if I can think of a better way of symbolizing them "running out of morale steam", I don't want the list to be nerfed into the ground after all!

    2. I think moving the Kelpie to the Fimir would be a good idea. They have a general lack of cavalry and I think it would be cool to see Fimir riding around on evil water horses.

    3. Should be doable, although I do expect converting them might be rather tricky ;)

  6. I agree with James it would be kinda weird in fimir though lol actually i meant to ask if in the new fimir book you could make fiana fimm core choices ill do some albion play testing soon

    1. Not sure about moving them to Core, it depends on how the rest of the list will look really. Fimir are still pretty far away at the moment.

  7. cool just that you get fiana fimm from forge world so its a good core and would be fun i only have 12 small fimir lol looking forward to ind and hobgob too

    1. They will most likely stay as a special choice though, since that's were most Ogre sized models are, not to mention Fiana Fimm being the Fimir elite. I'll see once I get there.

  8. hiho,

great work again, but i think spell elemental power is not a hex spell rather a augment spell.
i think that the while hilt is maybe i little to cheap for an always 2+ to wound weapon.
in the bestiary at the fenbeasts is written that i need a truthsayer, i think you mean thruthsayer or druid?
against the additional wound from the fragarach are saves allowed or not?
and i dont understand how this magic chariot works o.O
and maybe you can extend the gaelic fury -1 LD which not works for units with stubborn rule also for units with immun to psychology?

thats all for the moment ^^

    1. Right you are, augment it should be.
Agree on White Hilt, I don't think I quite finished that one... will have a look at it.
Technically that would just be Truthsayers, but since Druids can use their lore, it would be rather weird if they wouldn't apply... will add that.
No saves are allowed against any wounds caused by Fragarach.
I have rewritten the description for the chariot, it was a bit confusing with "model" (since you playing a model to begin with!).
Will add that to Gaelic Fury.

    3. Hey, can't say I don't listen to feedback ;)

Sartosa will most likely be finished sometime during the later weeks of July. I'm currently on a bit of a Warhammer break (filled with studies and Shogun 2), but will pick it up again as soon as Stefan Wolf is available to work on it.

  9. hiho

i read the kislev book again and found a few little bugs.
you have to read the stady in the ranks rule again. its not for 8th edition but it works ;-)
in bestiary the champ of the gryphon legion dont have 2 attacks in his profile.
in bestiary again. the sibyriyn hunters special rule "forest striders" have a different typeface.
and the chekist have in bestiary 2 attacks and bs 5 and in reference and armylist only bs 5.

so, i think its all for the moment ^^

    1. oh yeah, and if you could delete the page 100 then i would be happy :-)
the last picture then is on a doublepage not more split and you can close the book normally ^^

      thx and good night, günni
